National Fertilizer Corporation Institute of Engineering and Technology Multan also known as NFC-IET, is a federally chartered degree-awarding Institution located in Multan, Pakistan. NFC-IET offers undergraduate education, and produces scientists and engineers in the field of Engineering Science & Technology.
History
National Fertilizer Corporation of Pakistan is one of the largest employers of qualified engineers particularly in the field of Engineering. To meet the requirement of trained manpower for chemical process industry especially in the fertiliser sector, a Training Center was established in 1985 with the technical assistance of M/s. COSMO International Co., Ltd., Japan. The Centre trained managers, engineers, supervisors, operators/technicians through multi-dimensional programs that vary widely in content and duration for all types of process and engineering industry. To further diversify the activities of the Centre and in line with the education policy announced by the Government of Pakistan, NFC, with the approval of Ministry of Industries & Production, Government of Pakistan and special efforts of Dr. Saeed Ahmad Khan (Late) upgraded the Centre in 1994 and started graduate engineering classes initially in Chemical Engineering discipline. Two new disciplines, Electronic Engineering & Computer Systems Engineering (E&CE), were added in 2001, and changed the Centre's nomenclature to "NFC Institute of Engineering & Technological training”.
In 2001, two new disciplines Electronics Engineering and Computer System Engineering were added. A four year 'BS Programme in Computer Science' was introduce in 2008. The Institute started a four year BS Programme in Environmental Sciences in 2011.
The degree programs at NFC IET was initially started under the umbrella of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan. Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC),the apex body to regulate Engineering education in the country has recognised and accredited “NFC Institute of Engineering & Technology Multan on the basis of its facilities and high standards of Engineering Education. In 2012, NFC IET is awarded the chartered of Federal Degree Awarding Institute and Prof. Dr. Malik Akhtar Ali Kalrou (antieducationist) is appointed as its first Vice Chancellor. NFC IET is galloping at a rapid pace and launching new programmes like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture Design in 2013 and B.Sc. City & Regional Planning and BS Food Science in 2014. The Institute expects to start its MS Programmes in near future as well. It is consider as prominent university for chemical engineering.

Industry-Academia Interaction
The Institute is located in close proximity to Pakarab Fertilizers Ltd., which is one of the biggest chemical process complex in the country, and provides a strong technical backup to the Institute. The practical engineering education facilities which are available in the Institute, such as Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Miniature Plant provide added benefits to students in learning actual plant operation, process control and plant optimisation. These facilities have no parallel in other engineering institutions/ universities of Pakistan. Mid-Country Oil Refinery is a newly established petrochemical complex by PARCO and is the biggest employer of IET graduates. The refinery is about 60 kilometres from Multan and provides opportunity for Internships, student training, industrial tours and has proved a source of learning and technical collaboration for the IET students.
Student Societies
Student societies are very important for the creation of harmony between the individuals. These societies are built up to encourage or motivate students to come up with their unique thoughts to promote a sense of creativity. We have formed three societies in our institution.
Literary Society[3]
Its objective is to foster awareness and importance of literature to encourage the study and appreciation of literature. In our institution members are involved in different cultural and social activities which promote sense of participation and sense of achievement among them. Literature as a media of social relationships, we explore the social activities inspired by it and examine the development of culture.
General Society General Society is formed to organised and manage student events (seasonal, cultural, institutional) which helps in grooming the internal and artistic capabilities of students. Ghazanfar Arshad Khan 2k10 Chemical Engineering was the 1st President of 'General Society' (2010-2014)
Technical Society
The objective of the Technical Society is to create awareness about the research procedures to keep pace with modern student research groups. Technical society like other societies is established to give students a gate way to show their technical approaches used in industries through industrial seminars and project exhibitions.
ICE
NFC IET holds and annual engineering competition event called Innovative Competition for Engineers (ICE), since 2011. ICE brings forward the engineering talent of specifically Southern Punjab region. The event consists of:
-Hardware Competition -Software Competition -Poster Competition
