Mutsuminato Station (陸奥湊駅 Mutsuminato-eki) is a railway station on the JR East Hachinohe Line located in the city of Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. It is 9.0 rail kilometers from the terminus of the Hachinohe Line at Hachinohe Station.

History

Mutsuminato Station was opened on July 11, 1926 as a station on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR). A freight spur line to nearby Iwaki Cement (now part of Sumitomo Cement) was opened in 1927; the spur line was closed in 1986. Standard freight operations were suspended from October 1, 1971. With the privatization of the Japan National Railways (the post-war successor to the JGR) on April 1, 1987, the station came under the operational control of JR East.

Mutsuminato Station has one island platform serving two tracks, connected to the station building by an overpass. The station building is attended, and has a Midori no Madoguchi ticket office in addition to automated ticket machines. The station is operated by the Morioka-based Jaster Co., Ltd.
