Murrumbidgee Shire
Murrumbidgee Shire is a local government area in the Riverina region of south western New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is located adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River and the Newell Highway.
The two main administrative centres for the Murrumbidgee Shire are Coleambally and Darlington Point. It also contains the small town of Waddi.
Council
Current composition and election method
Murrumbidgee Shire Council is composed of six councillors elected proportionally in two separate wards, each electing three councillors. All councillors are elected for a fixed four-year term of office. The mayor is elected by the councillors at the first meeting of the Council. The most recent election was held on 8 September 2012. In East Ward, there was only three candidates, being those below, nominated for election. There being no additional candidates, the election for East Ward was uncontested.[3] An election was held in the North Ward. The makeup of the Council is as follows:[4][5]
