Mrisho Khalfani Ngasa (born 12 April 1989)[2] is a Tanzanian footballer who plays club football for Free State Stars (South Africa) and is also a member of the Tanzania national team.

Club career

In April 2009, Ngasa was invited for a trial with English Premier League side West Ham United.[3] On 21 May 2010, Ngassa joined Azam FC for $40,000 from Young Africans . At then it was the biggest transfer move in Tanzanian football but the record is currently broken. In July 2011, Ngassa went on trial with Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer and came on as a substitute against Manchester United in a friendly match.[4]

At the beginning of August 2012, Ngasa signed for Simba.[5] However, it was only on loan.[6]

After the completion of the 2012–13 Tanzanian Premier League season, After his contract with Azam FC had expired Ngassa signed a two-year contract with the current Tanazania Premier League and Cup champions Young Africans on 20 May 2013.[7]

Mrisho Ngassa is currently playing for South Africa based club Free State Stars were he signed a 4 years contract in 2015 signing for the South Africans from Tanzanian giants, Young Africans

International career

He was the top scorer in the 2009 CECAFA Cup with five goals as Tanzania finished fourth in the tournament.[8] He is one of the top scorers of 2014 CAF champions league with two hatricks making a totality of six goals.

Ngasa is the son of Khalfan Ngasa, a former Tanzanian international footballer who played as a midfielder.[1]
