High Gear Media is a vertical media company[1] that publishes The Car Connection and Motor Authority websites and mobile applications.[2]
The Car Connection has meta-reviews that integrate expert car reviews with opinions aggregated from other sources. The Car Connection also features buying guides, how to articles, and new and used vehicle listings for sale.[3] High Gear Media is headquartered in Menlo Park, California. It has raised $12 million in funding,[4] and is backed by Accel Partners, Greylock Partners, and DAG Ventures.[5] High Gear Media's board of directors includes former Federated Media Chief Revenue Officer Chas Edwards.[6]
Marty Padgett is the editorial director of High Gear Media.
High Gear Media's site, The Car Connection,[7] was the first to publish photos of the Chevrolet Volt, GM's extended-range electric vehicle, before its public launch in 2011.
