Today Extra is an Australian morning talk show, currently hosted by Sonia Kruger and David Campbell. The show airs between 9:15am and 11:30am weekdays and highlights of the week on Saturday mornings.
History
The show premiered on the Nine Network on 6 February 2012 and features interviews, live music performances and segments on cooking, lifestyle, fashion and beauty, entertainment and a wide range of other topics. It replaced Kerri-Anne, which was originally titled Mornings with Kerri-Anne and formerly aired in the same time slot.[1] [2]
The first guest on the show was actress and comedian Magda Szubanski. Mornings, along with Today went on hiatus during the course of the 2012 London Olympics.
In January 2016, Nine announced that Mornings would be rebranded as Today Extra an extension of the network’s breakfast TV flagship, Today. The show will get a refurbished set, while keeping its focus on light entertainment and news updates to kick off the network’s daytime programming.[3]

Ratings
Today Extra currently trails behind its Seven Network rival The Morning Show,[4] however in October 2012 Mornings beat The Morning Show for the first time since its launch earlier in February.[5] The Nine Network has not won the timeslot since 2008. On Australia Day 2015, Mornings had a major relaunch and rated the highest it has ever seen with an audience greater than 200,000. Since then Mornings has been increasingly gaining on its rival, frequently "beating" The Morning Show throughout the course of the year.
