Maison du Patrimoine en Brocéliande

The Maison du Patrimoine en Brocéliande ("Heritage House in Brocéliande") is a French ecomuseum located in Montfort-sur-Meu, at 25 km from Rennes, near the forest of Paimpont.

History

The museum, originally named the Écomusée du Pays de Montfort, was conceived at a meeting in June 1979 between M. Dagon de la Conterie, director of Cultural Affairs of Brittany, Simone Morand, and André Ronceray, along with support from Maurice Blanchard, deputy of culture for Montfort. Morand served as the museum's first director, from 1980 to 1983. In 1982, the Association culturelle de l’Ecomusée du Pays de Montfort was incorporated to operate the museum. Morand was followed as director by Gaby Marcon, who headed the museum from 1983 to 1994. Under Marcon, the museum moved into the Tour du Papegault. In 2013, the museum changed its name to the Maison du Patrimoine en Brocéliande.[1]
