MonoMono
MonoMono was a band formed in Lagos, Nigeria in 1971 by Sierra Leone-born Joni Haastrap (lead vocals, keyboards), Baba Kenneth Okolulo (bass, vocals), and Danjuma "Jimi Lee" Adamu (guitars, vocals). Other members included Friday Jumbo and Candido Obajimi. They produced a handful of singles and 2 full length LP's. Soundway Records reissued the first two MonoMono records in 2011: 1972’s Give the Beggar a Chance (EMI) and 1974’s The Dawn of Awareness (Capitol).[1][2] Monomono's sound became popular among Nigeria's middle class youth;[3] the band split apart in 1975 or 1976.[4][5]
