Monnette Sudler

Monnette Sudler (born June 5, 1952)[1] is an American jazz musician, composer and poet. Her primary instrument is the guitar. In her over 30-year career she has performed and recorded with such jazz notables as Grover Washington Jr., Steve Turre, Reggie Workman, Cecil McBee, and Hamiet Bluiett; among many others.

Life

Sudler was born Monnette Goldman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother, Lea Goldman, married Truman W. Sudler in 1957. She started her music education with the piano but started to play guitar at the age of 15. She attended Berklee School of Music in Boston in 1970 and the same year started to play professionally. She also earned a degree from Temple University in 2003.
