Monción is one of the three municipality (municipio) of the Santiago Rodríguez province in the Dominican Republic.[4] The Monción Dam is located just east of the town.

Climate
Monción has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen climate classification: Aw) with a dry season on winter and an pronounced wet season on summer.
