Mona Yamamoto (山本 モナ Yamamoto Mona, born February 11, 1976 Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan) is a Norwegian-Japanese TV announcer and presenter. Her father is Norwegian and she became a naturalized Japanese citizen at the age of 6.

After graduating from Gakushuin University, Mona joined the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation as an announcer. She introduces Jackass in Japan. In September 2006 she briefly worked for the Tokyo Broadcasting System news program News23.

She shied away from the public spotlight for a period of time and was let go from her position as an anchor for Fuji Television News after her scandalous affair with married Yomiuri Giants player Tomohiro Nioka in 2008. [1] However, she has recently apologized and announced her intention to return to the entertainment world.[2]

In 2010, she married the president of a real estate investment company. On 30 June 2011, Yamamoto announced, via a fax to media services, that she was retiring from public life.[3]
