Mohammadia is a town and commune in Mascara Province, Algeria. According to the 1998 census it has a population of 71,366.[1]
Mohammadia (formerly Perregaux during the French colonization) is a town in the province of Mascara, 80 km southeast of Oran, 35 km north of Mascara, Mostaganem 40 km and 57 km from Relizane.
Under the name Perregaux, the city was founded by French colonists on the ruins of the Roman city of Castra Nova.
