Miss World Philippines is the national franchise of the Miss World pageant in the Philippines and selects the country's representative to the said pageant. CQ Global Quest Inc., managed by Cory Quirino, acquired the franchise on January 25, 2011. Prior to Miss World Philippines, the title was awarded through the Miss Republic of the Philippines pageant from 1966 to 1976, then by Mutya ng Pilipinas Organization through Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant from 1977 to 1991, and by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. through the Binibining Pilipinas pageant from 1992 to 2010.[1]

The pageant is inspired by the Miss World Ltd.'s slogan "Beauty with a Purpose" and henceforth adopted the theme "Beauty in Giving." The winner and her court work with charities that benefit children in need and also join movements of supporting women and children's rights and many more advocacies.[2]

The current Miss World Philippines is Hillarie Parungao of Solano. She represented the Philippines in the Miss World 2015 held on December 19, 2015 in Sanya, China PR and placed Top 11.

The pageant was conceived on January 25, 2011 when the franchise that was previously held by Binibining Pilipinas was awarded by Julia Morley, Chair and CEO of Miss World Limited, to Cory Quirino, a Filipino tri-media personality. Quirino now currently serves as the exclusive licensee and national director for the Philippines.[3]

Morley, who personally awarded the franchise to Cory Quirino in Manila, clarified that she has no intention to offend Stella Araneta, the head of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.. Her decision to hold an individual Miss World contest in the Philippines was to focus more on the organization's vision, which is to raise fund for their beneficiaries and they can only do this if they will hold a separate contest. "The truth is I needed to give the Philippines as many opportunities. We need to raise funds for poor and sick at the PGH for their ventilation, the antibiotics, more medical equipment. The thing is I want to be involved. I can’t do that if we don’t have an individual contest. I don’t have a voice here before and now I want to be involved, I want to be connected. We have big plans to raise money for the children," explained Morley.[2]

The pageant was officially launched on March 23, 2011 at the SMDC Showroom at the SM Mall of Asia.[4]

Binibining Pilipinas – World (for Miss World)

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. selected the Philippines' representative to the Miss World pageant from 1992 to 2010. The local title was renamed to Binibining Pilipinas World and was added to the two other major beauty titles: Binibining Pilipinas Universe and Binibining Pilipinas International respectively.

The Philippines highest placement came in 2013 when Megan Young won Miss World but she won in Miss World Philippines to represent the country in Miss World. In 1993, Ruffa Gutierrez placed third. Czarina Catherine Ramos Gatbonton, the representative of the Philippines in Miss World 2010, is the last Binibining Pilipinas World titleholder.

In 2011, Julia Morley ended the contract with Binibining Pilipinas and awarded the franchise to Cory Quirino to hold Miss World Philippines, a separate national pageant for the Philippines' representatives to the Miss World pageant.[17]
