Miss Austria is a national Beauty pageant in Austria.

History

From 1959, the promoter is Miss Austria Corporation. Winner represents Austria in Miss World on occasions the winner is also send to Miss Universe pageant.

In the pageant of Miss Austria, the first and second placed candidates of each federal state take part. So in the final there are 18 delegates from the 9 Bundesländer.

Representatives at Miss Universe

Traditionally the winner or sometimes the runner up competes at Miss Universe pageant, or on some occasions the winner is sent to the contest. Between 2005-2012, Austria did not participate at the Miss Universe pageant due to lack sponsorship. It was beginning again in 2013, Miss Austria Organization will select the Austria's Miss Universe to compete at the Miss Universe pageant.
