Minister for Defence Science and Personnel (Australia)
In the Government of Australia, the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel was a ministerial portfolio that existed variously between 1987 and 2013. The Minister appointed was responsible for oversight of defence personnel and defence science and administered the portfolio through the Department of Defence, the Australian Defence Force, the Australian Defence Force Academy, and a range of other agencies.
While ultimately responsible to the Commonwealth of Australia and the Parliament, in practical terms, the minister reported to the Minister for Defence.
Since September 2013, the responsibilities of the Minister for Defence Materiel have been assumed by the Minister for Defence and the Assistant Minister for Defence.
