Early life and career

He started playing guitar at the age of 5 and was a professional guitar teacher at the age of 18. During the 1970s he played with Ruben and the Jets, who were produced by Frank Zappa.

As a member of the latin-band El Chicano, he released several US hit singles such as "Groovin'", "Do You Want Me", "Let Me Dance With You" and "I'm In Love With". They also toured with Santana, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Tower of Power and War.

In 1985, guitarist Chris Poland left Megadeth during their Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! tour and band leader Dave Mustaine asked Albert for a brief stint in the band. They also did shows with Anthrax, Exodus and Slayer, before Poland rejoined the band and Albert left. He's on several bootleg recordings from the band's shows.
