Michael 'Mick' O'Connell is an Irish Labour Party politician and former Lord Mayor of Cork. He was born in Cork and represented the North West electoral area. He was first elected onto the Cork City Council in 1999, and served as Deputy Lord Mayor in 2006–2007. He has been a member of many Committees of Council and in June 2005 was elected Chair of the Cork City housing committee. He lost his seat at the 2014 Local Elections.
Personal life
He lives in Shanakiel in Cork with his wife Catherine O'Connell and their three children. He was educated at the North Monastery school. He is a member of the Briars Court and Oakdale Residents Association. He is President of the Cork Darts Organisation, is President of St. Vincent's Golf Society, and is a Member of Dolphin Rugby Club.
