Metro (Russian: Метро) is a 2013 Russian action disaster film directed by Anton Megerdichev.
Plot
Because of the copious amounts of large buildings in the center of Moscow, the Moscow subway tunnel, built in 1935, is starting to fail as it cannot withstand the resulting weight. One tunnel night crawler, Sergeitch (Sergey Sosnowski), sees a small leak in the roof of the tunnel (in the place where the tunnel runs under the Moscow River) and informs the assistant station (Michael Fateev), but he says that it is only groundwater and mocks the old man for worrying about it. Meanwhile, Irina Garin (Svetlana Hodchenkova) is torn between her lover - businessman Vlad Konstantinov (Anatoly Bely) - and her husband - a district hospital surgeon Andrei (Sergei Puskepalis) - with their daughter Ksenya (Anfisa Wistinghausen). Konstantinov believes that she is no match for Andrei, and tries to persuade her to divorce him. Arriving from Zagranpoezdki, she spends the night with Konstantinov and doesn't have time to come home in the morning. Andrei has to take his daughter Ksenya to school but by chance, they cannot go by car and walk to the metro station "Garden". Simultaneously, Konstantinov arrives, hurrying to work, but forced to give up the car because of traffic jams. Meanwhile Sergeitch, drinking with casual acquaintance Galina (Elena Panova) next to the "Garden", recalls that the water leaking into the tunnel smelled of slime, which means that it can not be groundwater. They are detained by the police for drinking alcohol in a public place, but manage to escape, and Galina flees into the subway. Sergeitch phones his employers to inform all the dispatchers but police turn a deaf ear to his request.
In the tunnel the water breaches the ceiling. The driver of the train (Konstantin Ovseannicov) that coincidentally contains Garin, Konstantinov and Galina says the flow is too late and starts the emergency brake. Traveling at full speed, the train derails, the inertia pushes it onward, and it crashes into the new dam. Some of the passengers killed during braking due to the crush in the carriages, and the part that was sitting in the first car, are killed under the rubble that collapses on them, or by the flow of water. Survivors are selected from the wagons. Constantine is the only one who, instead of going along the rails, climbs onto the roof of the car. Crawling along, he sees one Garin in one of the windows, who is trying to find Ksjushu in a pile of bodies. Fascinated by the desire to explicitly save Ksjushu to him than it was to report to Irene, it helps Garin (with Garin learns Konstantinova, because once they Irina studied together at the institute). Garin going to follow the others, but Konstantinov their stops, indicating that the contact rail is still under stress, and it is better to wait until it is shut off. Of the remaining survivors, who by that time all ran forward, Konstantinov says that "the hopes that they're lucky." Meanwhile, the station duty officer tries to get in touch with the engineer of the ill-fated. Without waiting for an answer, and knowing of this disaster, and that people and water are in the tunnel at the same time (and that the drain pump is operating at full capacity), he decides to turn off the contact rail, but for this he has to wait until the next train did not drive off to another feeder zone. Before that happens however, the water rises too high and a short circuit occurs, and all who did not run out of the flooded area of the tunnel die from shock. Garin (along with the dog dead passenger - yapping), Konstantin and join them Galina, courier Michael (Stanislav Duzhnikov) and a couple, Dennis (Alex Bardukov) and Alice (Katherine Spitz), finally put forward forward. But after a while the water flow is shifted to them after the last car of the composition, and all except Michael, hurriedly making their way into the passage in the wall of the tunnel leading to the maintenance shaft. Michael, being very frightened, refuses to enter the passage, thinking that they need only go forward, and eventually dies when it rolls over the car.
From the passage the heroes fall into a small bunker, built during the construction of underground and out of it - in the maintenance shaft having a vertical shaft, which ends sewer grate livnёvoy somewhere on the surface of the earth, right on the roadway. Before the lattice not get - it is too high, and contact by mobile phone with the outside world is not possible, as they are separated from the surface by about seven meters of concrete and soil, which shields radio waves. Those survivors that escaped the electric shock get to the "Garden", and find that the station is being encircled and finally deploy the rescue operation. The car, driven over, stuck in the opening of the tunnel germodveri, thereby creating a tight shut, and as such the water level in the tunnel and in the well begins to rise rapidly. Simultaneously increasing tension between Konstantinov and Garin, as the latter cannot understand why he feels an interest in his daughter. When the water level raises them to the grid, and Garin Konstantinov manages to reach Irene (who already knows of the disaster), but only has time to tell her that they are in the bunker, and then, unable to resist water, drop your phone. They try to attract attention through the bars, but to no avail. Irina, who is hysterically trying to inform the rescue team of people in the bunker, hears the assistant driver Bob (Ivan Makarevich) which when Diggers, understands what she says, and is persuaded to send several rescuers to where, in his opinion, the lattice may be, leading to a well. But at this time under the pressure of the water rips off the wagon head mask to clear the passageway directs turbulent flow, and the water level in the hopper falls sharply, pulling the characters back into the tunnel. The rescuers descend into the bunker, but seeing the wet walls, according to Irina upset that all who were there, most likely drowned. The heroes get to the ghost station "Borodino" (which is close to the "Garden") and climb onto the platform to rest. Do Konstantinova finally pass the nerves, and he says that, most likely, will not save them because, in order to prevent further flooding of the underground (in the scene of the meeting MOE it appears that the flooding of the entire metro caused a large subsidence in the center of Moscow), a site at which they are located, localize and flooded with liquid nitrogen. Then he throws at Garin some indirect hints, which he realizes that he and Irina are lovers. But Constantine is not constrained and says Irina became his mistress because Garin, because he has ceased to exercise it due attention, and then completely says Irina and his Konstatinova, in his opinion, too, does not love; she just needs a lover, not like Andrew. This provokes Garin to fight, and he nearly drowns in the water Vlad - hassle interrupts cry overtook them, Galina, just attracted the attention of the rescue group that was sent into the tunnel after the survivors to get them out.
After some time, the rescuers are heroes. At the same time in that part of the tunnel where the train is stuck, completely collapsing arch, and giant streams of water fill the tunnel. The rescuers time to time contact with the leaders of the rescue operation, and germodver front of the station closes the outlet water. The heroes get to the bunker and finally get out through the bars on the street. Alice and Dennis together leave the hospital. Garin Irina comes tense scene where he silently suppresses all her attempts approaches to it. While visiting them, one of the doctors asked Garin to go to them in the hospital. Simultaneously to Konstantinov suited his subordinates and also asks him to go with him. The film ends with a scene where the car Konstantinova driving around in different directions with the ambulance containing Garin. For a moment rather stay and open the door to call Susie jumps saved yapping.
