Description

Merchants is set in 15th century Venice, where players compete to develop a maritime trading company, with the goal of being the most successful merchant.[1] Players can negotiate to build financial resources, are able to purchase ships, establish trade routes, and deal in valuable commodities. Merchants uses a negotiation simulator to provide players with information from simulated business partners, customers, and employees allowing them to makes offers and evaluate counteroffers.[3]

Merchants consists of nine animated lessons running around six minutes each, where key instructive points on negotiation are conveyed. Mastery of these lessons is required to progress in the game. Players receive scores based on their performance to compete with their colleagues.[4][5][6]
