Meitanba Town (simplified Chinese: 煤炭坝镇; traditional Chinese: 煤炭壩鎮; pinyin: Meítànbà Zhèn) is an urban town in Ningxiang County, Changsha City, Hunan Province, China. It is surrounded by Yujia'ao Township on the west, Yuejiaqiao Town on the north, Jinghuapu Township on the east, and Dachengqiao Township and Huilongpu Town on the south. As of the 2000 census it had a population of 50,567 and an area of 73.4 square kilometres (28.3 sq mi).

Administrative division

The town is divided into fourteen villages and one community: Meitaba Community (煤炭坝社区), Queshu Village (棤树村), Zhuantang Village (砖塘村), Nanzhushan Village (楠竹山村), Shixin Village (新村石), Hejiawan Village (贺家湾村), Dongshan Village (东山村), Heshiqiao Village (贺石桥村), Fujiachong Village (傅家冲村), Changsi Village (菖丝村), Zhangjiawan Village (张家湾村), Longshi Village (龙石村) and Shuanglong Village (双龙村).

Geography

The region abounds with coal.[1]

Huaguxi is the most influence local theater.

Transportation

National Highway running through the territory of 319 (国道319), with S206 Provincial Highway (省道S206) and 3 county rural roads and improve the formation transportation network. The 1824 Provincial Highway (1824省道) from Jinghuapu Township, running through Meitanba Town to Taojiang County.[1]

Attractions

Baishi Temple (白石庵), built during the reign of the Ming dynasty Jiajing Emperor (r. 15211567), is a Buddhist temple in the town destroyed and rebuilt several times.
