"Me, Myself & I" is a song by American rapper G-Eazy, and American singer and songwriter Bebe Rexha. It was released on October 14, 2015, as the first single for his second studio album When It's Dark Out. The song was produced by Bebe Rexha, Christoph Andersson and Michael Keenan.[1][2]

Background

The song originally called "I Don't Need Anything"[3] written by Bebe Rexha was intended to be used on her own debut album. Not totally convinced of the final result and looking for a collaboration, she played the demo on piano for the rapper G-Eazy, who liked the song and decided to collaborate on the track. They striped the song's verses putting rap on it and kept Rexha's chorus, post-chorus and bridge, and changed the title in "Me, myself and I". [4]

Commerical performance

The song debuted at 89 at Billboard Hot 100 and has so far peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it became G-Eazy's first top 10 hit and his highest charting single to date and became his first number 1 song on Billboard Hot Rap Songs after surpassing Drake's "Hotline Bling".[5] This is Bebe Rexha's third Hot 100 single as singer and her second top 10 and her fourth as a writer, after "The Monster", "Hey Mama" and "Take Me Home".

Music video

The song's accompanying music video premiered on October 29, 2015 on G-Eazy's Vevo account on YouTube. Since its release, the video has received over 30 million views.[6] Directed by Taj Stansberry, the video surrounds the scene of G-Eazy's birthday, where he is forced to reconcile with his anxieties and the man in the mirror.[7]
