McKenzie College is a private career college, located in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The College was founded in 1988 and offered a variety of occupational training programs.

In the early 1990s McKenzie College developed and introduced the first multimedia training program in Eastern Canada. The College became well known in Atlantic Canada in the technology and high tech industries. The College expanded to include three campuses, Halifax and Sydney Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick. Graduates of the college were positioned at an early time in the New Media field to take advantage of new opportunities offered by the adoption of digital technologies and the Internet.

In 1999, Dale Ritchie became the new owner and president, replacing Snow and MacLeod. In 2003 the Sydney campus was sold to Sydney businessman Todd Graham. As McKenzie College's new owner and president, Mr. Graham, moved the school to its present location in downtown Sydney and began developing programs outside the College's traditional technology base.

Responding to market demands, in 2010 McKenzie College began offering a number of occupational training programs in Professional Driving and Heavy Equipment Operator. In 2013, trade related Electrician and Welding programs were added. In 2013, McKenzie College founded a new training facility in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, The South Shore Career Training Centre. McKenzie College occupies two facilities; Their main office and classroom facility in downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia and the other in the Sydport Industrial Park that provides industrial lab space for their trade related programs.

Programs

Academic English with CAEL
McKenzie College's English as a Second Language program provides English language education to foreign language speakers with the Canadian Academic English Language assessment.

Earning Your Wheels - Class One
The Earning Your Wheels - Class One program is approved by the Canadian Trucking Sector Resource Council and is Nova Scotia's only nationally recognized professional driver training program.

Class Three with Forklift
The Class 3 with forklift program provides professional instruction to students who want to receive their Class 3 license to operate a straight truck.

Earth Moving
The Earth Moving program combines Class 3 licensing with dump truck, backhoe and mini excavator operation.

Heavy Equipment Operator
The Heavy Equipment Operator program provides training for the four most popular pieces of Heavy Equipment (Backhoe, Bulldozer, Front End Loader, Excavator) in one program.

Basic/High Pressure Pipe Welding
The Basic Welding/High Pressure Pipe Welding programs provide students with industry standard training and certification from the Canadian Welding Bureau and NS Dept of Labour.

Electrician - Residential and Industrial
The Electrician programs provide students with training and certification to enter the electrical trade as a first year apprentice.
