McGee (name)

Map of Gaelic Ireland showing the territory of the Ulaidh or Ulidia (kingdom) circa 900 A.D.

McGee or McKee is an English language surname of Irish and Scottish origin. The Mac Gee were a chieftain clan of the Ulaidh. The ever shrinking territory of the Ulaidh finally consisted of a sovereignty, which was known as Ulidia (kingdom) and which occupied a land area concurrent with that of just modern County Down and the southern portion of modern County Antrim in Northern Ireland. To their end as a nation in the late 12th century A.D., the Mac Gee occupied the Island Macgee therein.[1][2]
