McAllen Botanical Gardens

McAllen Nature Center (15 acres), also known as McAllen Botanical Gardens, is a city-operated nature preserve located in McAllen, Texas at 4101 West Business US 83, McAllen, Texas. It is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 am to noon and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 5 pm.

The gardens were established in 1962, with an emphasis on palms. The site is no longer maintained as a botanical garden but as a general nature site. The site contains 3/4 mile of trails through pristine native thornscrub habitat with great birding opportunities. It also has picnic areas and flush toilets.
