Matthew "Matty" Russell (born 6 June 1993 in Irvine) is a Scottish professional rugby league player for English club Warrington Wolves of Super League. A Scotland national representative fullback, he previously played for Wigan Warriors and Hull F.C., as well as in the National Rugby League for Australian club Gold Coast Titans.[2]

Russell's Super League career started with the Wigan Warriors, playing some games on loan to Hull F.C.. He then agreed a two-year deal with Australian NRL team, the Gold Coast Titans, but returned to England a season later. Russell was named in the Scotland squad for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.[3][4] He was one of the star players in the tournament. On the 16th of April 2014, the entertaining, fast running Scottish fullback, signed a new three-year deal that would keep him at Warrington until November 2017.[5]
