Matthew Kaminski
Matthew Kaminski is the executive editor of POLITICO's European edition, which launched on April 21, 2015.[1] He was previously a foreign correspondent, opinion writer and member of the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board.
Biography
Kaminski was born in 1971 in Warsaw, Poland and emigrated to the United States in 1980. He is a graduate of Georgetown Day School in Washington and Yale College, and holds a masters degree from the Universite de Paris. While based in Kiev from 1994–97, Kaminski reported for the Financial Times and the Economist on the former Soviet Union. He subsequently joined the Journal as Brussels correspondent, and in 2004 was awarded the Peter Weitz Prize by the German Marshall Fund for a series of columns about the European Union.[2][3][4] In 2005, he became the editorial page editor of the Journal's European edition, based in Paris. He moved to New York to work on the editorial board in 2008, writing mostly about international affairs. His coverage of the Ukraine crisis won an Overseas Press Club prize in 2015.[5] He was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in commentary.[6] He was appointed to his current post in December 2014.[7]
Kaminski has also contributed to Tablet, an online magazine committed to Jewish interests. [8]
