Mateo Messina is a Grammy Winning American soundtrack composer perhaps best known for working on the soundtrack to the 2007 film Juno. His music has been on 4 Oscar nominated films and he has a signature sound that translates from orchestras to small unique ensembles.

Career and Life

Mateo Messina’s style of songwriting and composition has earned him many accolades. He has received numerous film score awards, including the Festival Tous Courts in France for The Freak, One Reel Film Festival for Terra, ASCAP Awards, and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.[1]

Messina writes for Fox, Universal, Warner Bros, Disney, Sony, & Paramount. As well as NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, USA, & the WB networks. He has also written music for a variety of commercials including, Nike, Microsoft, MTV, Honda, Pottery Barn, Volkswagen, Sony, Norelco, The North Face and Ford.[2]

A Seattle native, Messina maintains residences in both his hometown and Los Angeles. The young philanthropist composes and produces an annual benefit concert with The Symphony Guild to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital. He began a connection with the hospital over 15 years ago when a co-worker's daughter died in the hospital.[3] Entering its 16th year, Messina has raised over one million dollars for the hospital.

Messina has scored over 50 feature films including the Academy Award-winning Juno, short films, & over 100 television episodes. As well, he has written additional music for such hits as Up In The Air (George Clooney, Vera Farmiga), Thank You For Smoking (Aaron Eckhart, Cameron Bright), Young Adult (Charlize Theron), and NBC's hit, The Office.

Also, since the age of 23, Mateo has written, produced, and premiered 15 symphonies. Each premiere has been a benefit concert for families at Seattle Children's Hospital. To date, he and his team have raised over $1,000,000 for these children and their families.
