Launched in 2006 by Ross Borden and Ben Polansky as a social network for travelers, Matador Network is a media company and content creation studio.[2] Matador has been ranked by Skift as one of the top 25 consumer travel media sites in the world and "the most successful media brand on social media [in the travel industry]."[3][4]
In addition to the English site Matadornetwork.com, Matador publishes content in Spanish and Portuguese, and has recently developed a full production house for branded content.[5][6][7]
Custom content & social media marketing
Matador Network is an industry leader at destination marketing and custom content, with staff regularly invited to speak at travel industry conferences, such as ITB,[8] WTM,[9] TBEX,[10] and ATTA.[11] Matador's clients include brands such as Intel,[12] SanDisk,[13] General Mills (Nature Valley),[14] and numerous destinations.
MatadorU
In 2009 Matador Network started MatadorU, an online school for travel journalism.[15] MatadorU offers course in travel writing, travel photography, and travel filmmaking. In 2010, Matador Network acquired Glimpse from National Geographic.[16][17]
