Massachusetts Bay Community College (more commonly known as MassBay) is a two-year college in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It has three campuses, in Wellesley, Ashland, and Framingham. The college is home to the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra. Massachusetts Bay Community College was founded in 1961. However In 1973, the Massachusetts Board of Regional Community Colleges chose the property of the Elizabeth Seton High School in Wellesley for MassBay's permanent campus.
Events
Graduation
The graduation ceremony for all three campuses takes place at the Wellesley campus. The ceremony is conducted in a specially constructed tent just outside the Wellesley Hills campus building. The graduation is accompanied by the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra whose home is at MassBay Community College at the Wellesley Hills campus.
Honors
Honors and student recognition ceremonies are conducted in the assembly hall at the Wellesley campus.
College Presidents
In 1983, founding president John F. McKenzie retired, and second president Roger A. Van Winkle was appointed. In 1999, the third president, Dr. Lindsey Norman was appointed. In 2004, the College's fourth president, Dr. Carole M. Berotte Joseph was appointed. In 2011, the fifth president of the college, Dr. John O'Donnell, Ph.D., was appointed. From 2011 to 2015, the president has been Dr. John O'Donnell. Due to the impending retirement of Dr. O'Donnell, Dr. Yves Salomon-Fernandez was selected by the Board of Trustees to be Interim President, beginning August 17, 2015.
