Maslandapur (also spelled Machlandapur) is a census town under Habra police station of Barasat sadar subdivision[1] in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is 54 km from Sealdah Station on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch line of Eastern Railway.[2] It is part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway system.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[3] Maslandapur has a population of 10,790. Males constitute 51.14% of the population and females 48.85%. Maslandapur has an average literacy rate of 87.86 %, higher than the national average of 76.26 %: male literacy is 91.41%, and female literacy is 84.17 %.

Transport

Maslandapur is 54 km from Sealdah Station on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch line. It is also well connected by road to Habra, Barasat, Bongaon, Tentulia and Basirhat.

Healthcare

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[4]
