Masaba Yunus

Masaba 'Mas' Yunus is a Ugandan business entrepreneur and investor. He is best known as the founder of the Mas Group of Companies.

At the age of seventeen, he started his first business venture, Bacpage Magazine. In 2010, he opened a branding company called Blue Magic Incorporated, which later won recognition as Junior Achievers Company of the Year in 2011. He has since moved on to venture into animation (Pomp Motion Studios), consultancy (Mas Consults & Associates),^[1] Transport (Transporter Corporation)^[2] and ICT (yoSupermaket.com).^[3]

In 2011, he and other entrepreneurs founded Uganda Youth Entrepreneurs League (UYEL), a private sector association for youth-owned businesses in Uganda. He is the president of UYEL.

Background

Masaba Yunus was born in Mbale District in the Eastern Region of Uganda to a middle-class family.

He attended His Primary One at Namakwekwe Primary School before moving on to North Road Primary School. He joined Jinja College for O'Level. In 2007, he joined Kiira College Butiki.^[4] He went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in economics at Makerere University.

Yunus Receives Young Employer of the year award 2014

In 2011, his company Blue Magic Inc. was awarded Junior Achievers^[5] Company of the Year.

In 2014, he was named the Young Employer of the year by the Federation of Uganda Employers.^[6]

Yunus also appeared on TEDX Talks hosted by TEDx Nakasero^[7] where he spoke about the importatance of learning other than just education.
