Mary Kok-Brann (born in 1940 in Hilversum). Broke her first swimming world record at the age of 14. Mary Kok broke ten swimming world records recognized by FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur) between November 1954 and February 1957[1] In 1956 Mary Kok was selected to represent the Netherlands at the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia Due to a boycott by the Netherlands, her Olympic Team uniform and luggage tags were to be her only Olympic mementos. Mary Kok held 12 European records and 17 Dutch records. Mary broke the record for swimming the Scheldt river, she was the first female to swim 50 km in Argentina (1960),[2] took first prize in the Atlantic City World Championship Ocean Marathon (1960) and was the first Dutch female swimmer to cross the English Channel (1960).[3]

In 1955, she became the Dutch Sportsman of the year and in 1980, inducted to the International Swimming Hall of Fame.[4]
