Mary Gabriel (author)
Mary Gabriel is the author of Love and Capital: Karl and Jenny Marx and the Birth of a Revolution, about Karl Marx and his wife Jenny von Westphalen. It was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. According to WorldCat, the book is held in 985 libraries.[1] She also wrote Notorious Victoria: The Life of Victoria Woodhull, Uncensored — about suffragette Victoria Woodhull —, and The Art of Acquiring: A Portrait of Etta and Claribel Cone — about collectors and travelers Cone sisters.[2] Mary Gabriel was educated in the United States and France, and worked in Washington and London as a Reuters editor for nearly two decades.[3]
