Marion, Shelby County, Indiana

Marion is an unincorporated community in Shelby County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.[1]

History

Marion was platted in 1820.[2] The community was named for Francis Marion, an army officer during the American Revolutionary War,[3] A post office opened at Marion in 1823.[4] The post office was later renamed Noah and was discontinued in 1902.[5]

Marion once contained a high school which closed in about 1908.[6]
