Mariano Medina e Isabel (Toledo, 8 July 1922 - Madrid, 28 December 1994) was a Spanish meteorologist and the first "Weatherman" on Spanish television; a position he held for thirty years.
Biography
He earned a degree in Physical-Chemical Science in 1943 and, in 1945, joined the Forecaster's Corps. He served at the San Pablo Airport in Seville. During this time he also taught at a local college.
He began his media career on the radio, presenting the weather forecasts on a popular show called "Cabalgata Fin de Semana" (Weekend Cavalcade) on Cadena SER, Spain's oldest radio network, where he came to be known as "The Weatherman".
He joined Televisión Española when the network began operations in 1956. He soon became the weatherman for Telediario, a position he held until his retirement in 1985.
