Life

Maria Elena Boschi was born in Montevarchi, Arezzo, in 1981. Her father Pierluigi Boschi is vice-president of Banca Popolare dell'Etruria e del Lazio. Boschi has a law degree from University of Florence, from which she graduated with a grade of 110/110 cum laude[6] and became a lawyer specialising in business law.[7] She was on the board of directors of Publiacqua, a public utility in Tuscany, until June 2013.[8]

In 2008 Boschi joined the Democratic Party and was close to Michele Ventura, a candidate in the primary election for Mayor of Florence, a member of the political faction of Massimo D'Alema.[9] In 2011 she became an advisor to Matteo Renzi, at the time Mayor of Florence, coordinating his campaign for the 2012 centre-left primary election.[10]

At the Italian general election, 2013, Boschi was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies and is a member of the national executive of the Democratic Party. On 22 February 2014 she was named as Minister of Constitutional Reforms in the government of Matteo Renzi.[11]
