Margaritis Schinas

Margaritis Schinas (born July 28, 1962 in Thessaloniki, Greece) is a Greek politician and EU official. He served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2007 to 2009. In 2010, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Bureau of European Policy Advisers by Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

He is a graduate of public administration at the London School of Economics and of the College of Europe 1985-1986.[1] He has worked at the European Commission since 1990 and held a number of senior posts, including as chef de cabinet for the Cypriot Commissioner, Markos Kyprianou, from 2004 to 2007. In April 2013 he was appointed Director at the Commission's Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs.[2]
