Marc Scibilia, sometimes styled as MARC SCiBiLiA, is an American singer-songwriter based in East Nashville, Tennessee. He was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. His self-titled EP released in 2012 included the song “How Bad We Need Each Other” which was featured in the hit television series Bones, after which the song climbed to the #1 spot on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. Another single, “Something Good in This World”, was also featured on Bones early in 2013.

Scibilia’s version of Woody Guthrie’s folk classic “This Land Is Your Land” was featured in Jeep’s 2015 “Beautiful Lands” Super Bowl commercial. The ad fared well, making Scibilia one of the most Shazam-ed artists of the telecast[1] and led to mentions in articles from Billboard (magazine), Rolling Stone Country, USA Today, the Hollywood Reporter, Just Jared, the Tennessean and the Detroit News.

His new album "Out Of Style" was released on October 30, 2015 amidst tours with James Bay, Zac Brown Band and ZZ Ward as well as an appearance on The Today Show.[2]

Early life

Both his father and grandfather were professional musicians while pursuing other vocations to support their families. His grandfather, Tony, had his own orchestra and played bass alongside famed guitarist Tommy Tedesco. By the time Marc was 6 years old he had started drum lessons and in high school classical piano training with the great, master, Steve Parisi, and eventually picked up guitar after high school. Marc and his brother Matt, a drummer (Brendon Benson, Cory Chisel, Colorfeels) have been surrounded by and playing musical instruments from childhood.

Career

The EP entitled From ‘Brooklyn to Maine’ was released in 2009 and sold exclusively at his live shows, including tours with such artists as Dave Barnes and Derek Webb. In 2010, Scibilia was signed to Sony/ATV music publishing and in early 2012 Scibilia released his self-titled EP. Marc teamed up with his longtime friend director Julian Smith to film a selection of live performances, these videos were released virally and gained popularity with music bloggers and Scibilia fans.

Marc has toured with James Bay,[3] ZZ Ward, Butch Walker, Gavin James, Steve Winwood, Zac Brown Band,[4] Ben Rector, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and Green River Ordinance amongst others. He has also opened for John Oates (Hall & Oates) and Sixpence None The Richer. In addition to playing with Sixpence None The Richer, Marc has also collaborated with Leigh Nash of the band, where they wrote the Christmas song “Deeper Than You Know”.

‘The Shape I’m In’ EP was released on September 10, 2013. Most of the EP was recorded in Scibilia’s studio apartment in East Nashville and partly recorded at Electric Lady Studios in NYC and Blackbird Studios in Nashville. The EP was mixed at Electric Lady Studios by Michael Brauer (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Coldplay, John Mayer).

He performed at NFL Draft Town as part of the festivities surrounding the 2015 NFL Draft.[5]

The songs 'Wide Open Arms' and 'How Bad We Need Each Other' along with an EP were released throughout 2015 leading up to his full-length album 'Out Of Style' which was produced by Butch Walker and released on October 30, 2015. He is currently on tour with Gavin James.

Personal life

Scibilia currently lives in East Nashville with his dog Lander, who is said to have been to more states than most people.
