Manor is a census town in Palghar district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway (NH8) and also connects with Nashik via the Manor-Wada Road.

Geography

Manor is located at an average elevation of 20 metres (65 feet). It is approximately 16 km from Palghar, which provides a local train connect to Mumbai. Tarapur MIDC, Maharashtra's largest industrial corridor, is only 30 minutes by road. The picturesque Manor Dam provides water supply to the town as well as other neighboring towns.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Manor had a population of 8345. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Manor has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 61%. In Manor, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. By Census 2011,[2] the population of Manor has grown by ~25% to more than 10,000. Literacy rates have also reached 75% with more than 7,700 literates. With a number of schools and colleges located in the town, the importance of education and literacy seems to show up in the statistics.

Residential

The town is self-sufficient with numerous schools, colleges, hospitals and a bustling market place. Since the bifurcation of the Thane district in August 2014, soaring real estate rates in Palghar and Boisar have brought Manor into the limelight as an affordable housing alternative to the working population in the industrial belt. MARS Developers' bungalow scheme & TVS Realty's building project form the New Manor Town and Khushi Group's Khushi Aangan are few of the prominent residential complexes in the vicinity.
