Mandalay Technological University (MTU) (Burmese: မန္တလေး နည်းပညာ တက္ကသိုလ်, pronounced: [máɴdəlé nípjɪ̀ɴɲà tɛʔkəθò], formerly, the Mandalay Institute of Technology (MIT)), in Patheingyi, Mandalay, is a senior engineering university in Myanmar. The university offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in engineering disciplines to students from Upper Myanmar. It maintains an annual student intake of at least 300.[1]
As MTU offers only a few doctoral and postgraduate programs, students have to go to Yangon Technological University or abroad for doctoral and postgraduate programs.
Starting from 2012-2013 Academic year, MTU was declared as the Center of Excellence (COE) and reaccepted the undergraduates for Bachelor of Arch (B.Arch) and Bachelor of Engineer (B.E ) .In each Academic year MTU accepts around 300 students and stands as the second most popular university in Myanmar, after Yangon Technological University, YTU .
History
The university was founded as the Mandalay Institute of Technology on 1 October 1991 and became the second senior engineering university to be founded in the country.[2]
