Man-Ching Donald Yu

Yu Man Ching (Chinese: ) is a Hong Kong composer and pianist. [1] His music has been actively performed internationally. The style of his recent music is characterized by the blending of post-impressionistic gestures, micropolyphonic techniques, and oriental colours.

Life and career

As a prolific composer, more than hundreds compositional oeuvre ranges from chamber, vocal, electroacoustic, and Chinese instrumental works to opera, concerti, choral works, and symphonies. Most of the works have been featured at various festivals and venues throughout the North and South America, Europe, and Asia such as the Expo Milano 2015 (Italy), the International Festival of Modern Music "Kyiv Music Fest", and the International Festival of Modern Art Two Days and Two Nights of New Music at the Odessa Philharmonic Theater, etc. Music has received commissions and/or performances from the Uzhgorod Philharmonic, the Opera Hong Kong Chorus with Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra,and Icarius Ensemble (Italy), etc. Music is published by Edizioni Sconfinarte (Italy), Helm & Baynov Verlag (Germany), Ablaze Records, and Albany Records. As a music theorist, music theory papers have been selected at various international music theory conferences as well as selected for publication in various scholarly book and peer-reviewed academic music journals.
