Maha Samadhi celebrations

The Mambalapattu 21 Feet Sannadhi of Lord Shani was built to commemorate the 50th Maha Samadhi celebrations of Sri Swayam Prakasha Saraswathy Avadhutha Swamigal. This tradition is held at Kalpattu Sri Swayam Prakasha Avadhutha Ashramam, with no hundis or commercial activities. Everything, including accommodations, is free at the Aashram. Continued since its inception on November 4, 1998, free annadhanam is offered. Activities are funded solely through voluntary donations. During every Sanipeyarchi (Saturn’s transit), more than 200,000 people are fed with prasadhams. The organization believes that charging money for darshan and food is sinful in a holy place such as the ashramam. A 20-foot-tall statue of Lord Shani is in a standing position. The bhagavan is called Sri Yoga Saneeswarar.
