Malvern tram depot is located in Armadale, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.[1] It is one of 8 depots operated in the Yarra Trams network.[2]

History

The depot celebrated its centenary on 30 May 2010 when it hosted a function to commemorate the opening of the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust on 30 May 1910. Former P&MTT trams 44 and 84 were brought from Bendigo for the occasion with 44 running several special trips between the depot and Dandenong Road.[3][4]

Heritage buildings

The old buildings in the complex are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.[5][6]

Layout

The main yard has 17 roads, 14 of these inside 2 sheds and 3 uncovered roads taking up space in Coldblo Road. A multi-directional single exit/entry track exists.[1]

Rolling stock

Malvern Depot is home to a combination of both old and new trams. The fleet includes 1 SW6-class tram, 20 Z1-class trams, 1 Z2-class trams, 24 Z3-class trams, all 38 Siemens Combino 3-car module D1-class trams and 1 D2-class tram; a total of 85 trams.[1]
