Makerere University School of Public Health (MUSPH) is one of the schools that constitute the Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS). The schools are:
- Makerere University School of Biomedical Sciences (MUSBS)
- Makerere University School of Health Sciences (MUSHS)
- Makerere University School of Medicine (MUSM)
- Makerere University School of Public Health (MUSPH)
Location
The school is located on Mulago Hill, adjacent to the Mulago Hospital Complex, and there are three other schools within the Makerere University College of Health Sciences.
History
The origins of the school date back to 1957 when the Department of Preventive Medicine was established at Makerere University Medical School. In 1975, the department was elevated to the Makerere Institute of Public Health and moved to a new five-storey building of its own. The Institute was elevated to a full-fledged School of Public Health and made a constituent school of the Makerere University College of Health Sciences in 2007.[2]

Postgraduate Programmes
Makerere University School of Public Health mainly focuses on graduate training than undersgraduate. By August 2014, the school offers the following graduate programmes. [4]

- Master of Public Health Distance Education (MPHDE) - Three to five years of part-time coursework, a field research project and examinations.
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) - Three to five years of instruction, research, a field project and examinations.

- David Serwadda - Physician, Infectious Diseases Specialist, Professor of Public Health. Former Dean of Makerere University School of Public Health.[9]
- Fred Wabwire-Mangen - Physician, Epidemiologist, Professor of Public Health. Head of Epidemiology Department, MUSPH.
- William Bazeyo - Assoc. Prof. of Occupational Medicine at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health and is currently the Dean of the School.
- Christopher Garimoi Orach - Professor of Public Health. Head of Department Community Health and Behavioral Sciences at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health and currently the Deputy Dean of the School.
- Freddie Ssengooba - Assoc. Professor of Public Health. Head of Department Health Policy Planning and Management at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health.
- Nazarius Tumwesigye Mbona - Assoc. Professor of Public Health. Head of Department Epidemiology and Bio-statistics at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health.
