Majalgaon is located in the Beed district of Maharashtra. Mr. R. T. Deshmukh (Jija) of the Bharatiya Janta Party is the current MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) of Majalgaon.

Education

The mediums of communication in the educational institutions are English, Marathi and Urdu. Many schools and colleges have very good infrastructure and facilities. The educational background in this area is good. Primary education is managed by the Zila Parishad (district council). All the secondary schools and junior colleges are affiliated with State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in Pune Maharashtra. One Industrial Training Institute and two D.Ed programs offer professional education in the town. Other colleges offer arts, science, commerce and vocational faculties up to post graduation level. All the colleges are affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Aurangabad.

There are 3 sugar factories in Majalgaon. Two are co-operative and one is private. There are also many cotton and oil industries present.

Culture, though not typical, is predominantly Maharashtrian. Religious customs are followed in marriages and other functions. Family and religion are still very importance. Food is largely vegetarian, but spicy non-vegetarian food is also popular. Several restaurants, Dhabas and roadside food shops offer vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Chicken is perhaps the most popular non-vegetarian food. Achār (pickle), pāpad (poppadom) and spices are part of a common high chilli diet.

The new generation, especially males, wear western fashion. Shalwar Khamis is popular among young girls. Married women wear Saris (a long piece of colourful fabric) on their bodies. Traditional outfits, however, remain popular with the elderly. Diwali, Holi, Dasehra, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha and Buddha Jayanti are the major festivals.

Major buildings and architecture

New housing constructions are mainly concrete based, but the poor often use mud-and-mortar houses with metal sheet roofs. There are no amenities in the town except one dam and 3 cinema halls—"Shriram Talkies" is the oldest.

Siddheshwar temple which is near the Sindhaphana river is noted for its architecture.

The town is accessible only by road. National Highway 222 passes through the town. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), a state owned transport company, provides bus access to the major towns in Maharashtra . Some private travel agencies also have services to the major cities of the state. The nearest national airport is Aurangabad (140 km); the nearest international airports are Mumbai (450 km) and Pune (250 km). The nearest railway stations are Manwat Road (40 km), Parli (65 km), Aurangabad (133 km) and Ahmadnagar (145 km). Auto rickshaw is the only mode of public transport inside the town. Roads inside the town are of average width and below average quality.

Majalgaon city is the Taluka headquarters.

Majalgaon was earlier administered by Mr. Prakash Solanke for 15 years as the constituency's MLA. He did work effectively at the beginning of his term, but the consistency started to lack as the years passed by, and thus the people of the constituency were fed up and decided to vote against him in the recent election. Which eventually led to Solanke's defeat by a high margin of votes. Current MLA Mr. R. T. Deshmukh who won the election has a clean image and is more of a common man who understands constituency's people's needs and wants. Presently he runs a corruption free, clean and effective government for Majalgaon in terms of development of the constituency.

Notable people from this village are Govindrao Dak, elected for the Majalgaon Consitancy in 1985. Ashokrao Dak is the current president of Beed district nationalist party of congress. Other politicians are Digamber Wagre, Vishnu Gore, Mahadu Dake, and Kerba Parad. The main crops of the village are sugarcane and cotton.

Manoj Tatya Jagtap is also emerging politician in Majalgaon. Who holds position of Taluka Head of Bharatiya Janata Party.
