Madhepur
Madhepur is a block in Madhubani district in North Bihar, India. This small town has a historical background of being an education and commercial epicenter by at the area surrounding it. It has one high school and two colleges followed by so many primary schools. It has huge commercial market spreading across the town. It has also a block office, two government hospital, a power house (near Laxmipur chauk), a police station, a B.Ed degree college, a post office, several temples and mosques, a BSNL telephone exchange (near Madhepur old bus stand), two bank's branches (i) state bank of India (ii) Punjab national bank & a branch of Dena bank is about to open near Laxmipur chauk.

Education
The town has a high school: Jawahar High School (1914) and two college - Harshapati Singh Mahavidyalaya.[2] and Madhepur Teachers Training College. This small town is an educational Hub for all the areas surrounding it. There are countless tuition centres and private tutors available here for different classes. It has a major population of students coming from surrounding area and from koshi region; who stay here as paying guest and continue their education.

Culture
It has a mix culture with celebrations of all the major festival across the year. One of major festival is Durga Pooja celebrated by all the residents of this small town. The 'Chhath Pooja' is organised by all communities, including Muslims. During 'Muharram' tajia julus from all the surrounding villages meet on Madhepur police station and there they present awesome scene. on the other hand during 'Durga puja' two puja committee one at 'Laxmipur chouk' and other at 'Madhepur Dyodhi' organize their Durga pujaas. it is a major attraction here to watch or to participate in these 'Durga Puja Mela'. One of the famous festival celebrated here is 'Ramamavami'. During this festival various cultural programmes including julus, folk dance and music are organized. People from all the surrounding villages participate in these celebrations. During Vasant Panchami all the people including students staying here worship Goddess of Wisdom Maa Saraswati. Transport
The area has one bus stand near Laxmipur chowk. Jhanjharpur is the nearest neighboring town and sub division. Auto-rickshaw, buses and mini - buses are the means of transportation between Madhepur to Jhanjharpur. It is directly reachable through road from Jhanjharpur. The town areas are well connected by Auto Taxies. There are a lot of bus services who offer direct bus service to Madhepur from Jhanjharpur, Darbhanga and state's capital Patna.
Economy
Actually Madhepur has a more developed market than its neighbor Jhanjharpur. It is a place of Trade and commerce for all the areas surrounding it. The most crowded area are Laxmipur chowk; which contains college, bus stand, sweets shops, pharmaceutical shops, mobile phone shops, photo studios, book stalls, pathologist and ultrasound centres and main market. Most people are farmers while other are businessman. The main market is located in Madhepur Bazaar and Laxmipur Chowk. The main source of income is agriculture and business. It has a milk factory only second after Anand Gujrat, which is closed for over 40 years. No government tried to bring the factory on track. The ruins of factory is still there near Madhepur bus stand.
