Production

Sakthi Chidambaram announced that his next project would be titled Machan in February 2012 and immediately speculation arose that Namitha, who has appeared in several of the director's previous films as well as being closely associated with the title, would play a pivotal part in the film.[3] However it was later announced that Siva Karthikeyan would play the lead role in the film alongside Dhansika, though the pair were later removed without reason.[4] In April 2012, Sakthi Chidambaram confirmed that Vivek and Karunas would both be seen in lead roles, while revealing that Sheryl Pinto, who appeared in Arasangam and Vaadaa would play Karunas's heroine in the film.[5] The team subsequently signed on Namitha to play the love interest of Vivek in the film, marking her comeback to Tamil films after a brief period out of action.[6] Sakthi Chidambaram announced that he would also act in the film alongside his duties as director and producer, while Srikanth Deva was signed on to score the film's music.[7] The film also marks the comeback of leading Kannada actor Ramesh Aravind in Tamil films for the first time since Manmadan Ambu (2010).[8] Machan was launched on 19 April 2012 with prominent members from the Tamil film industry including directors K. Bhagyaraj and Sundar C and actors Karthi and Bharath in attendance.[9]

Nearly 18 stars such as Bharath, Vijay Sethupathi, Vimal, Viddharth, Thambi Ramaiah, S.J. Suryah, Srikanth, Parthiban, Kovai Sarala and Power Star Srinivasan to name a few will appear in the title track Machan Machan.[10] Despie being completed in 2012, the film still remains unreleased.

Soundtrack

Sakthi Chidambaram himself had written lyrics for four songs except song "Ennachu Enadachu" which was written by Arivumathi. The audio was launched at Express Avenue Mall by Gemini Audio on 6 December 2012. Feroz Khan, SJ Suryah, TP Gajendran, SA Chandrasekar, T.Siva, Hansraj Saxena graced the event.[11] Behindwoods wrote:"Machaan has Srikanth Deva being totally in his elements".[12]
