Luke Elliot is an American musician from New Jersey, United States. After releasing his debut album he has received praise and rave reviews, and is described as an up-and-coming artist, "on the brink of world success".[1]

Biography

He started playing piano at eight, and started writing songs at thirteen.[2] He was featured on Tidal Rising,[1] and has played on Norwegian TV-shows, such as Lindmo, due to his connection to Norway.

Norway

Elliot travelled to Norway and found his backing band there. He recorded his debut album in Halden, Norway, at Athletic Studio.[1] Upon the release of his album Dressed for the Occasion, he has received rave reviews and praise,[1][2] earning a dice throw of 6 from the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.[3]

Style and influences

Elliot has been described as having a dark crooning style,[3] with a traditional, melancholic and melodic sound.[2] He has also described himself as similar to Leonard Cohen live.[1] He has also been described as "Less rock than Sinatra, more crooner than Springsteen. But related to both. He writes songs with Jackie Leven's beat-elegance, and Stan Ridgeway's attraction to gangster-romance, Nick Lowe's death-drive and Richard Hawley's taste for the grandeur", as well as having his voice described as "[coming] from everywhere and nowhere, energetic and laid-back, passionate and weary of life. At the same time."[3]

He has cited influences ranging from Cramps and Gun Club, to Sharon Van Etten, as well as Mink DeVille.[1]
