Lucas Digne (French pronunciation: [diɲ]; born 20 July 1993) is a French footballer who currently plays for Italian club Roma, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and the France national team. He plays as left-back capable of also playing as a left-sided midfielder.

Club career

Lille

On 27 July 2010, Digne signed his first professional contract agreeing to a three-year deal with Lille until June 2013, though it was later extended to 2016 in January 2012.[1][2] Ahead of the 2011–12 season, Digne was promoted to the senior team permanently and assigned the number 3 shirt. He made his professional debut on 26 October 2011 in a 3–1 victory over Sedan in the Coupe de la Ligue.[3]

Paris Saint-Germain

On 17 July 2013, Digne signed a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain,[4] on a fee believed to be around €15 million.[5]

Loan to Roma

On 26 August 2015, Serie A club Roma announced that they had signed Digne from Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan deal for €2.5 million, with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the 2015–16 season.[6] Digne made his Roma debut on 30 August 2015, playing the entire in the 2–1 victory against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.[7]

International career

Digne is a French youth international and has represented his nation at the U16, U17, and U18 levels. Digne represented France at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, wearing the number 17 shirt, and in the third group game vs. Ecuador, suffered a foul by Ecuadorian captain Antonio Valencia, for which Valencia was shown a straight red card, effectively ending Ecuador's chances of qualifying for the knockout stage.
