Lombard Street Research (LSR) is a macroeconomic forecasting consultancy with headquarters in London and offices in New York and Hong Kong. LSR is Europe's longest established independent research company and provides research and advisory services to a global network of influential investors including: asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, Central Banks, private equity funds, investment banks and corporations.
Details
LSR was founded in 1989 by Tim Congdon, one of the UK’s leading economists since the mid-1970s. He was soon joined by Brian Reading, an influential contributor to the international economic debate since the 1950s. Charles Dumas joined the firm in 1998, to take over the international forecasting service, and became Chief Economist in 2005. Diana Choyleva is currently Chief Economist having succeeded Charles Dumas, who continues to publish extensively on the global and US economies, in 2015.
Since 1989 Lombard Street Research has provided global investors with independent, provocative economic analysis and investment advice that challenges the consensus.
Their research is integrated, and global in nature, which they believe to be essential to understanding today’s interlocking markets. Their approach to macroeconomic analysis is pragmatic, borne of years of experience and lateral thinking.
LSR’s forecasting methodology combines Keynesian and monetary economics. Their understanding of money, credit and banks, and their interaction with asset markets, is globally recognized. They utilize analysis of money supply, sector financial balances and flow of funds in their forecasting methodology.
In 2005 LSR were among the very few forecasters to predict the global financial crisis.
